Linking of fields between TimeLog and Business Central

Introduction

Here we provide you with an overview of which TimeLog data that transfers to which fields in Business Central.

Description

We first provide you with a walk-through of the features and limitations for each area of the integration.

Customers

The customers are linked when you create the integration, and you decide how to link new customers in TimeLog and Business Central. You can select between the following options:

  • From TimeLog to Business Central
  • From Business Central to TimeLog
  • To/from TimeLog to/from Business Central
  • Automatic linking of customer names, if VAT no. is the same in both systems, and transfer of invoice contact person to Business Central

Contacts

Contacts on an invoice in TimeLog transfer to Business Central together with the invoices, if you activate it in the customer setup. The contacts on customers in Business Central transfer to TimeLog, when Business Central is set as master for customer data.

Financial accounts

Financial accounts in Business Central are imported when you set up the integration. Financial accounts in Business Central cannot be transferred, changed or deleted from TimeLog. Ín TimeLog financial accounts are equivalent to product numbers.

Invoices

You can only transfer booked TimeLog invoice to Business Central, where they are created as invoice drafts. If you change an invoice draft in Business Central, you don’t update the invoice in TimeLog.

You can transfer the invoice specification from TimeLog together with the invoice, and it is attached as a document to the invoice in Business Central, if you activate it in the setup in TimeLog.

Invoice lines

TimeLog transfers description, quantity and rate to Business Central.

The Unit field on the TimeLog invoice does not transfer to the invoice draft in Business Central. You select the unit code on the invoice line in Business Central.

Business Central can receive invoice lines that only contain text.

Currency

You need to make sure that the currencies you use on invoices in TimeLog are available in Business Central too. Otherwise you cannot transfer your invoice from TimeLog to Business Central.

Employees

Customer owner in TimeLog transfers to Customer Card and Salesperson Code in Business Central.

Employees in TimeLog entered as internal reference on an invoice transfer to Reference in the invoice draft in Business Central.

Dimensions

TimeLog supports transfer of dimensions together with TimeLog invoices to Business Central You link the dimensions in the integration setup.

You can transfer the following dimensions to Business Central:

  • Project number/name
  • The invoice’s department no./name
  • The employee’s department no., if the invoice line contains registrations from one employee

Expenses

TimeLog can export project expenses to Business Central incl. financial account and picture of invoice/receipt. You need to update TimeLog’s expense types with the financial account no. from Business Central.

You can import vendor invoices from Business Central to TimeLog. During the import, TimeLog controls if the expenses were exported previously from TimeLog to Business Central.

To ensure an optimal import, you need to update TimeLog’s expense types with the financial account no. from Business Central.

Projects

TimeLog’s project number/project name transfer to Business Central as a dimension.

Project tasks

Project tasks don’t transfer to Business Central.

Allocations

Allocated employees don’t transfer to Business Central.

Time registrations

Time registrations don’t transfer to Business Central.
