Internal/external – analysis

Introduction

The reports Internal/External – Analysis is used to show how much of the employee’s time is spent on projects. Based on this information, the employee’s utilisation percentage (the part of the normal working time) spent on external projects.

Description

Explanation of the internal/external analysis report

By clicking the plus to the left of an employee, you see the projects the employee has registered time on.

Work (hours) shows if the employee has registered his or her normal working time. If the column shows more than 100%, it means that the employee has overtime.

Internal/External (%) shows how much of the registered time has been tracked on internal and external projects.

You can get a list of registrations by clicking the number in the Internal or External columns under Work (Hours).

Work (%) = Internal (h.) + External (h.) / (Norm. (h.) – Vacation (h.))
Internal = Internal (h) / Total registered hours
External = External (h) / Total registered hours
External % = External (h) / (Norm. (h.) – Vacation (h.))

Definitions

  • Company (Internal): All projects associated to this company are internal projects. The internal company is configured in the System Administration.
  • Normal working time: The employee’s Normal working time is calculated based on the employee’s normal working week and public holidays.
  • Holiday: Shows the employee’s planned Holiday for the time period.
  • Internal hours: Time tracked on internal projects.
  • External hours: Time tracked on external projects.
  • Total registered hours: Total registered hours.
  • Non-booked: Is the value of the hours, which are not on a booked invoice.
  • Depreciation: Is the value of the hours, where changes were made on the invoice.

Special remarks

By entering a percentage in the Internal/External field under View, you have the opportunity to see how many employees are above or below the external% target. Please note that the % column under Work (Hours) may be red even if the target for the external% is reached and green under Internal/External (%). This occurs, if the employee has worked less than the normal working time in a given period. The normal working time will be less than 100% and therefore marked red.
