Jira Cloud

In this article, you will find information on how the Jira Cloud integration works within TimeLog, how to set it up, and how we transfer. Good to know

With the integration, you can transfer time registrations from Jira to TimeLog.

How to set it up:

First, you need to make sure you have an active license in both Jira and TimeLog. All employees who want this integration must have an active license.

When setting up the integration, complete the following steps:

1. The first step is to add the TimeLog app via Jira Marketplace. Do this by accessing the top menu and click Explore more apps.

2. Search for TimeLog, click "Get app" and follow the steps given by Jira marketplace.

3.  Once the app is downloaded, insert the server and account name.

You can find the server name under System Administration> Integrations and API > Transactional API settings under "Your Timelog API URL"

You may also contact our support at support@timelog.dk to get the server name.

4. Copy the server name and your account name, and click Allow access to complete the setup.

5. Once the app has been added to Jira, navigate over to your Kanban board and click on a work log. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the card and then click "time tracking".

6. Here you will be redirected to insert a token so the integration may be migrated. If you do not have a token, click the text below the field to get it.

7. The next step is to get the token from TimeLog from TimeLog's personal token creator. Here you insert the desired period for which the token should be active and select the name of the token. Read this article to learn how to create new token.

8. Copy the token ID and paste it into Jira Cloud to activate the integration.

Now the integration is set up.

What we transfer:

The integration between TimeLog and Jira only transfers your time registrations between each other.

Good to know:

  • On submission of the registration in Jira, it will transfer directly to TimeLog, this means that if you edit a registration, you’ll have to update it in TimeLog as well manually. The same thing happens if you edit a registration in TimeLog, then you will have to update and edit it manually in Jira.
  • The name of the Issue ID will be collected and inserted in TimeLog as the project name.
  • The only thing you can do with the integration in TimeLog is to manage licenses in Jira
  • You can only track time in Jira, so expenses, mileage, etc must be tracked and registered in TimeLog.
  • When you submit a time registration, it transfers to TimeLog as a time registration and is logged in Jira as a work log.

If you want to purchase licenses, go to your TimeLog account in the system administration, call our customer success department at +45 70 200 645, or send us an email at support@timelog.com to learn more.
