How to use the Competences in TimeLog

The “Competences” feature is an addition to the resource planner and the employee view that allows you to add competences to employees and improve workflows in finding and allocating the right resource to one or more tasks.

By using the feature, you can:

  • Define the skills, knowledge, and abilities of your employees
  • Find the best and available candidate for a task based on their competences
  • Assign tasks to employees with the right competences
  • Track the competences of your employees over time.

Competences in system administration 

In the system administration, you can set up, add, and edit the competences that you want in your company.

Simply go to the system administration, which is located in the top right corner under your user icon, then click on the employee tab, then click on the tab “Competences” (see image below).

On this page, you can add and edit competences and competence categories to have your customized view and competences (see image below)

Here, you also have the option to set a category on the competence, search for competences, and set competences inactive/active.

 

Adding competences on users:

To add competences on a user, you need to: 

  1. Go to the tab “Employees”
  2. “Search employees”
  3. Go to the desired employee and click edit on the employee card
  4. Scroll down until you come to the section “competences”, and click edit competences (see image below).
  5. In here, you can add different competences, and create a new competence and competence category (see image below).

Assign flow 

Assign flow In TimeLog’s resource planner, you can assign an employee with the right competences to the right project.

Simply toggle over to the view “Group by project” view in the resource planner (see image below).

 

When you have the view “group by project”, simply click on the three dots on the desired task/project and click on “Assign to employee(s)”.

In the project view, the user can:

  • Assign one employee to one or more tasks on a project 
  • Assign one or more employees to one task 

In the employee view, the user can assign a project and one or more tasks to an employee.

In here, you can search for an employee, department, multi-legal entity, or competence.

When you have typed in the desired field(s), you will be able to see how many hours the person has available and the competences each person has.

Select the right employee and then click “assign” (see image below)
